Blurring the line between animals and humans is dangerous.
Keeping wasps as pets is dangerous. Patting cobras is dangerous too. We know who is human and what is animal. It pays to know the difference between animals and humans.
Cruelty to animals is wrong too.
We all know that.
But what about treating humans as animals? We all do that and it is just as dangerous because it begets hatred.
Here are some examples of people who are treated like animals. Not the usual ones though - I am sure that every teacher has their own favourite example from the pages of history.
These contain some unusual examples too. Teachers are more than welcome to add their own.
So are their students at the end.
Maybe - just maybe - this might lead to a smidgeon of mercy to the underdog, however unpleasant and dangerous they may be?
