This resource requires children to calculate the area of compound shapes by dividing them up into rectangles/squares and using the formula length x width. This engaging activity requires the children to calculate the area of the shapes and match them to the different zoo animals depending on their need for space. I have used this resource many times with year 5 and 6 children and it is always a hit with the children.
