A full scheme of work covering the entirety of the play and focusing on key scenes, including:
- Meeting Romeo and Juliet
- The role of Tybalt
- The marriage
- Act 3, Scene 1 as a 'tipping point'
- The friar
- The deal to 'end' Juliet's life
The unit focuses heavily on the use of symbols, both visual and language-based. There is a high level of focus on developing student responses and understanding Shakespeare's language.
Full lesson plans with video clips and an introductory unit that focuses on symbolism in music videos, to get students to understand the concept of a symbol.
Some lessons are missing but that is because they were assessment points that were not part of the overall scheme. The overall SoW is not affected.
Suitable for Year 9 upper sets, all the way up to GCSE.
